Camp Place Cards For A Bar Mitzvah

A few weeks ago, one of my Etsy customers asked me to make personalized postcards for her son's camp themed Bar Mitzvah. I thought it was such a great idea.

I think they turned out awesome and wanted to share.

Enjoy!

Inspired by Liz Lemon...

I love 30 Rock. It's definitely up there on my list of favorite shows. I've been eyeing Liz Lemon's (Tina Fey's character) alphabet charm necklace, for quite some time now.

I had to have one of my own, so I set out on a mission to find a sterling silver look-a-like on Etsy. I was so excited when I saw this double charm necklace from ERiaDesigns.

I ordered it immediately and within a week, I received my necklace. It came beautifully packaged in this adorable little tin.

The quality is even better than I imagined. I ordered the 16" box necklace. It fits me perfectly!!

(I didn't realize my shirt was on inside out when I took this picture!!)

I decided to get my kid's initials, but I'm definitely adding mine and my hubby's later on as well.

This would be a perfect gift for any occasion. I am beyond happy with my purchase!! If you want one too, just head on over to ERiaDesigns I promise you won't be disappointment.

Enjoy!

If you've already seen the movie, head back over here and share your thoughts. If you haven't seen it, get your tickets as soon as possible. You won't regret it!

DIY Hunger Games T-Shirt

Inspired by the Hunger Games, I decided to make my own screen printed t-shirts.

Creating a screen print is pretty simple. I made these Tees with just a few inexpensive items.

You'll need:

  • T-Shirt
  • Martha Stewart Acrylic Paint. (I used All Surface Metallic Gold)
  • Screen (I used an 11x14 screen) and a screen printing squeegee
  • An X-Acto knife
  • Con-Tact paper
First, cut your image out of the Con-Tact paper. Trace it on the the grid side (the printed side) so you don't have to flip it. Be careful using the X-Acto knife when you cut out your image. I used my Cricut for this project.

Second, use the outer area of your cut out to begin preparing your screen. Make sure you stick the contact paper on the outside of the screen. (the "flat" side of the screen, not the recessed or deep side) Cover the excess areas with painter's tape. This will ensure you won't get unwanted paint all over your t-shirt.

This is what the finished screen looks like.

*When you prepare your T-shirt for printing, make sure you place a piece of cardboard  inside your shirt. This will keep the paint from seeping through the layers of your Tee.

Third, add your paint in a generous line to the top of your screen. Before you begin printing on your t-shirt spread the paint across the entire image with the screen printing squeegee. This is called flooding the screen. Next, place your screen onto your t-shirt. Using the squeegee, make sure you spread the paint over your image several times.

Last, carefully remove the screen from your t-shirt to reveal your image.

Believe it or not, you can print many shirts with just one cut out. The Con-Tact paper will remain in "tact." (no pun intended)

Here's a tip: once you've printed all of your shirts, remove the tape and cut out and quickly wash your screen with warm water and mild soap. You want to avoid letting the paint dry on your screen. If it does, your screen will no longer print well.

Here's what the final product looked like.

I promise, these shirts look store bought. I am so happy with the results. If you give this a try, head on back here and tell me how it went.

Enjoy!!
